Very nice capture. What camera and what 70-200 + 2x TK have you used and what are the exifs? Btw I take moon photos too, feel free to have a look at them.
Try a low ISO, about 64 or 100. Also, try to keep a quick shutter. You may think you want more light in, but the moon is bright, you want little light to get into your sensor to get nice detail.
Also, a great zoom (I have wet dreams over a good zoom) is beneficial. A steady tripod is essential, if it has an extendible neck, don't use it, the necks shake. To reduce the effects of the slight camera movement when you press the button, use an external trigger, or a 2 second timer before the shot is taken.
Clear skies are obviously what you'd want.

No, a great zoom is the worst thing because when zoom lenses are produced, they must make a compromise in image quality therefore the image will get soft with increasing zoom because more compromises must be taken. A good prime lens with a long focal length will produce best results.
